Parametric Facade

Parametric Facade

The Parametric Facade of the 67 Edward Street aims to create a sustainable working environment whilst connecting the building to the street. Plants on the inner face of the sunshade cool air passing by whilst also acting as a aesthetic feature. The proposed regional bank headquarters aims to be a symbol of sustainable subtropic architecture and shows the banks’ commitment to the environment.

The facade design began through extensive analysis of the street elevation, which found two key points:
The heritage architecture of the area utilized columns and ledges to add depth and presence to the building,
and secondly the atmospheric light of the street was heavily influenced by nature.

After taking photos of the site and urban context at different times of day, these photos were then taken into Photoshop and analysed in black and white. The resulting 2D form was then input into grasshopper and extruded to 3 dimensional sun shades which allow the structure to have the same daylight inside the workplace as the street.
